A Truth Seeker Finds Her Way

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

"I cannot predict the future for myself or anyone else and neither can the tarot cards. The cards help us to understand our potential; they are a tool, like a journal or meditation, as a way to seek guidance and clarity in our lives."

One of the splendid gifts that goes hand in hand with writing for the I.O. Domani website is the unexpected journey that each new piece takes me on and hopefully the reader along for the ride as well. I love that I never know what interesting and unique story idea Chad Thomas has in mind for the next blog. This is an article dear to my heart and soul that reflects the adventure and intrigue of such surprises.

Meet Maria Amore, a confident, yet sensitive free spirited woman, who rode the wave of financial and career success all the way to life's golden shores. During the greater part of the 2000's, she established herself among the elite as a lawyer in Montreal, Canada with unparalleled gravitas.

It seemed entirely possible that Amore would remain in the hierarchy at her law firm for the rest of her working days. But, she was at a crossroads in her life facing an all too familiar existential crisis that besieges professionals who work 24/7 and are essentially married to their occupation. Little did she know at the time that becoming a professional tarot card reader was in her cards.

It's fairly safe to say she had not anticipated such a move, but this particular challenge was irresistible. It was at this point when she left her stable and lucrative position in the legal field to follow her heart as a healer. Thereafter, she became a top-of-the-line tarot card reader and healer, exhibiting the same level of professionalism in that capacity, making a seamless transition to a different branch of helping people. More on that later.

Amore reflected on that time in her life “ I kept thinking to myself, is this really how I want to spend the rest of my life, leaving my house before the light of day and coming home in the dark of night?" I could feel myself becoming cynical and jaded about my profession and a career that I worked so hard to obtain after so many years of studying while working full time to put myself through school.” she recalled.

She took a leap of faith and left her lucrative position at the law firm to pursue her passion of vegan cooking. “Cooking had always been a hobby of mine and as an animal lover and a firm believer against the cruelty of all animals, becoming a Vegan chef made complete sense to me. I felt at the time that this was an opportunity that the universe had provided for me.” Amore said.

Alas, making a living as a Vegan chef is no easy task, and Amore decided to pursue another great passion of hers; tarot. As fate would have it, she forged an unbreakable bond with an exceptional woman who would take on the role of not only her spiritual mentor but a dear friend--the kind that most of us who are lucky enough can count on one hand. Their friendship was to be for only a season on this planet, yet fortunately it remains wedded to her soul for eternity.

As Amore explained "My beloved teacher and mentor, Inbal Levi, was from Israel, and living here in Los Cabos. I met her in 2014 when I arrived in Los Cabos. I became her student and apprentice. By 2016, due to her guidance, I felt ready to start reading tarot for clients. In 2018, she left this plane to venture into other forms of existence. I keep her in my heart and ask her to always help me in my readings, so that together we can assist clients as much as possible."

And so this is how the soulful seeker discovered her current path that led her to become a tarot card reader and healer who possesses a gigantic heart of gold. Naturally I was curious to learn more about tarot and tarot card readings?

Here are the basic cliff notes in a nutshell. Like the common playing cards, tarot has four suits. Each suit has 14 cards: ten pip cards numbering from one (or Ace) to ten, and four face cards (King, Queen, Knight, and Jack/Knave/Page).

Tarot card reading is a form of cartomancy whereby practitioners use tarot cards purportedly to gain insight only (Please keep in mind this is not a time machine device) into the past, present or future. They formulate a question, then draw cards to interpret them for this end. A traditional tarot deck consists of 78 cards, which can be split into two groups, the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana.

It's important to understand that a tarot card reading from Amore is not a blueprint of your future and will not be a prediction of a smooth or bumpy ride that lies ahead. In my mind's eye I view tarot as a way to navigate the vicissitudes of the road less traveled.

"I cannot predict the future for myself or anyone else and neither can the tarot cards. The cards help us to understand our potential; they are a tool, like a journal or meditation, as a way to seek guidance and clarity in our lives. They have improved my everyday life, and one of the greatest joys that I've experienced in my journey is seeing how that has helped others also" Amore expressed with passion and lucidity.

I asked Amore 'What is the typical response you get from people unfamiliar with Tarot card reading?' she revealed, "They'll tell me 'I needed that; I haven't had such clarity in a long time.'' she elaborated, "A lot of people really need help to identify what's going on inside their subconscious mind. The cards act as a mirror of ourselves.”
